Your own notes
Photograph the notes you took in class and revise them by ear, on the bus or on a walk.
Photograph handwritten notes, a letter or a recipe, or pick a photo you already took. Outloud Reader recognises the handwriting and reads it aloud in a natural voice, each phrase highlighted as it’s spoken.

Yes, Outloud Reader reads handwriting. Start a new book, choose Camera to photograph the page or Gallery to pick a photo, and the writing is recognised and read aloud with each phrase highlighted. Clear, even handwriting works best; very messy writing may not be recognised.
From a handwritten page to the voice in your ears, in four steps.
Start a new book in the app. Choose Camera to photograph the handwritten page now, or Gallery to pick a photo you already took.
Lay the page flat in good light and keep all the writing inside the frame. Each photo becomes one page, and up to 50 pages go into one book.
Choose the language the page is written in to hear it as it is, or another one to have it translated first. Then choose the voice.
The text is recognised and read aloud in a natural voice. Press play, and the phrase being spoken is highlighted as you listen.
The app reads handwriting, but how well depends on the writing and the photo. A few things help most:
Whatever was written by hand, photograph it and listen.
Photograph the notes you took in class and revise them by ear, on the bus or on a walk.
Hear a letter or a card read aloud while each phrase lights up, so it’s easy to keep your place.
Photograph the family recipe and listen while you cook, with your hands free.
Choose your own language and the note is translated in natural sentences, then read aloud.

Yes, if the writing is clear. Photograph the pages one after another and they become one book, up to 50 pages, read aloud with each phrase highlighted.
Usually the page is at an angle, in its own shadow, or the phone focused on the edge of the book rather than the text. Lay the book flat, let the camera settle and keep the whole text inside the frame — or paste the text yourself.
To recognise, translate and read your pages, the app sends the photos and text you add to our server, where AI and speech services process them. Photos are deleted after processing, and your data is never sold or used for ads. The details are in the privacy policy.
